It features heavy-duty aftermarket wheels, a reinforced front bumper, and a custom bed rack equipped with recovery gear. The roof and bed host specialized communication antennas and meteorological equipment, allowing meteorologists to safely track, document, and stream live atmospheric data directly from the path of developing tornadoes.

The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 1 (TIV 1) is a heavily armored truck built to withstand and film inside tornadoes. Designed in 2003 by IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey, it featured 1/8 to 1/4-inch steel plate armor and bullet-resistant polycarbonate windows, made famous on the Discovery Channel series Storm Chasers. Built over eight months at a cost of around $80,800, the TIV 1 was constructed on a 1997 Ford F-450 chassis and powered by a 7.3-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel engine. Doppler on Wheels 6 (DOW 6), a highly specialized mobile weather radar truck operated by the Center for Severe Weather Research (CSWR). Built on a rugged International WorkStar truck chassis, this mobile laboratory features a crew cab configuration and heavy-duty stabilizing hydraulic stilts to secure the platform during high winds. The rear flatbed houses a massive 250 kW, dual-frequency, dual-polarization X-band Doppler radar dish. DOW 6 is deployed directly into the paths of severe supercells, hurricanes, and tornadic outbreaks to gather close-range atmospheric data.

Built on a rugged 2015–2020 chassis, this mobile studio features a steel front brush guard for impact protection in extreme environments. Its roof houses a motorized Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera dome for live 360-degree storm tracking, alongside specialized weather sensors and a high-gain cellular antenna matrix.
