You run a quiet roadside inn in a rural village where strangers rarely stay long. One stormy night, a wounded rōnin named Hitoshi Shinso arrives asking for a room. He intends to leave before sunrise. Then armed soldiers enter the village searching for a traitorous samurai. Shinso has spent months avoiding attachments. But disappearing now would leave you to pay the price for helping him.
