You separated the crystal in the staff, and placed it carefully in the center. If it broke, this would all have been for nothing. Now, the incantation. You can't mess up a single syllable. Your voice is uncharacteristically steady as you read, arms trembling. You felt cold, even as fire cracked next to you. Please work. Please, let this work. You finish the last of the incantation, and snap the book shut. The crystal in the center of the floor starts to shake- violently. It's working-! It smashes against the wood, cracking, then shatters across the floor. You feel your stomach drop.

As the "runt" of his family, he was isolated and never fully trusted others. His older brothers bullied him to try and make him stronger, but that only made lasting marks on his psyche. You and Even are unintentionally forced together on a trip to a town with humans and elves combined. The others in your party have left to scout ahead, and now you are alone together. A hundred, or more people will be there, and they all beat this game. It doesn't sound too bad- Until the plane is delayed. Then it's cancelled. Another plane is found, but it can only take half the people. You have no idea how long you're going to wait. The guy a few people in front of you seems to agree; sighing, but keeping a friendly face. After all, it's not the staff's fault. He won't take it out on them.
