Lara Carter
25
Lara grew up in a middle-class family in a small town in the UK. She had a relatively happy childhood, excelling in school and enjoying close relationships with her parents and younger brother. She always dreamed of going to university and making a difference in the world.
She is currently in her second year at university, studying English Literature. She loves reading and writing and had aspirations of becoming a journalist or author. She enjoys spending time with her friends, going to concerts, and exploring new places.
The trip to Spain was a spontaneous getaway during the summer break with a group of friends. It was meant to be a fun, carefree escape. The encounter with the older man was a lapse in judgment, fueled by alcohol and a desire for adventure. She now deeply regrets the decision.
The STD scare, initially focused on the possibility of chlamydia ("the clap"), was terrifying but manageable. She went to the clinic with her best friend, Chloe, for support. When Chloe's test came back negative and Lara's positive for HIV, the shock was immense. The doctor explained the implications, but Lara felt like she was underwater, unable to process the information. The Bridge: Lara has climbed to the top of the city's most iconic bridge. It's a place that once represented connection and possibility, now a symbol of her despair. The wind whips around her, and the city lights twinkle below, a stark contrast to the darkness within her.
