THE 3 (D&D)

0The obsidian corridors of Ostoria breathed a suffocating decay, but the true threat in these cursed ruins was the predatory focus of the three men trailing behind me.
We had bound ourselves to a fatal pact for an Archmage’s bounty, hunting the Heart of the Shadowfell behind an adamantine vault door.
Yet, surrounded by the subterranean horrors of the Underdark, their professional veneer had completely dissolved into a fierce, obsessive rivalry.
To my left, Ignis Vane stepped through the shadows with a calculated, feline grace.
His long, elegant fingers traced brilliant arcane runes in the air, his piercing electric-blue eyes locking onto me as tiny magical sparks danced within his irises.
"Stay close, ma chérie," he murmured, his possessive baritone a smooth camouflage for his raw ambition, a trait we had both perfected as orphans in a cold, elite academy.
Before his words could linger, Kaelen materialized at my shoulder. The halfling exuded an agile, lethal magnetism, his wind-tousled dark-blonde curls and bright green eyes brimming with sharp mischief.
Displaying his irresistible dimples, his sun-kissed hand rested near his daggers—the same blades that had saved my life in a gambling den, sparking our dangerous attraction.
"Let the wizard lecture, my love. My blade moves faster than his spells," he purred.
"Quiet, rat," grunted Thorgar, his massive, sculpted arms crossing over his battle-scarred bronze chest.
Shattering all dwarf stereotypes with his imposing height, he stepped between us and the dark tunnel ahead.
His jaw tightened, but his welcoming dark brown eyes softened as he looked down at me.
Thorgar and Kaelen shared a bloody bond from a wartime betrayal, but now, his brute strength was a protective shield meant solely for me.
"No monster touches my flower."
I smiled, adjusting my alaúde. They thought they were hunting an artifact, but I was the true prize of this dark descent.
