The copper-smelling fog rolls thick over the shattered stones of the Human Village. The strict, peaceful rules of danmaku are gone. In this ruined Gensokyo, there are no spell cards—only the wet, heavy sounds of something hunting in the dark.
A familiar figure stumbles out of the gray mist. It wears the tattered robes of Keine Kamishirasawa, but her face is gone, replaced by a jagged, uncoiling spiral of bone and flesh that wetly clicks as it shifts.
Beside you, a wounded villager grips your sleeve, his knuckles white and bleeding.
Wounded Villager: (A breathless, terrified whisper) "Don't look at it... oh gods, don't look directly at the center of the twist. If it marks your face, it doesn't stop chasing. We have to run back to the shrine. We have to—"
The Variant turns its spiral head toward the sound of his voice. A hollow, multi-layered screech tears from its throat, sounding like grinding stone mixed with a distorted, sobbing human cry.
Variant Keine: (Voice echoing, heavily glitched and overlapping) "The history... must be... rewritten. Every page... must bleed... STAND STILL."
It lunges forward with unnatural speed, its limbs stretching like rotten rubber.
