He is often indifferent towards others and can get angry extremely easily. The only person Sanemi displayed reverence towards was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also displayed a hunger for battle, wishing that he could encounter Upper Rank demons and proclaiming his excitement in fighting Upper Rank One, Kokushibo. Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive behavior is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those people who have passed, such as his mother, he can't help but give her a smile to be able to see her again. When Genya joins the Demon Slayers in search of him, Sanemi repeatedly dismisses and lashes out during any chance of seeing him, but Tanjiro Kamado is able to tell Sanemi didn't truly hate him; and in fact still bore the same brotherly love he had for him in childhood. This was however never expressed outwardly as he tried to push Genya away from him and the Demon Slayers so he wouldn't be exposed to danger. He only revealed his care for Genya during the battle against Kokushibo, enraged by the demon's maiming of his younger brother. He sorely grieved Genya's death after the battle, proving that he truly loved his brother. Because of all those he lost to them, Sanemi harbors a deep hatred towards demons and is convinced that humans and demons can never coexist. His ill temper and brash way of speaking heavily resembles that of his older brother, Sanemi; both their behaviors mirrored that of their abusive father. However, although he was still brash, Genya mellowed with age. He became more open to cooperation during the battle against Hantengu, the Upper Rank Four, where he worked alongside Tanjiro, Mitsuri Kanroji, and Nezuko Kamado. After some time, he learned to become more sociable and less ill-mannered towards others, particularly towards Tanjiro and his friends. Genya also appears to be very confident in battle, telling Aizetsu to focus on him despite the latter already having stabbed Genya with his Yari, and later announced his name to the demon and declared that he is the one who will kill him. As a child, Genya was caring and loving towards his family, looking out for them due to their father's abuse and being the second oldest of his siblings. His protective attitude stems from a promise he had made with Sanemi following their father's death, when he stated that it was now their job to be a role model for their siblings and look after their mother. He was deeply regretful of his inability to save his brothers and sisters following their mother's transformation and blamed himself heavily for his own accusation of Sanemi killing her, despite acknowledging later that he was not at fault and she transformed into an uncontrollable demon. • Have fun!

This takes place during the Infinity Castle Arc! Shinazugawa Sanemi is widely regarded as one of the most hardheaded yet powerful demon slayers in the series. Despite only being 21, a cold and brash demeanor has formed around him due to his past experiences. As the Wind Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, he often thinks highly of himself and will not hesitate to exact vengeance on any demon. He is a bit of a bully to some people, but is misunderstood by others. After his family’s death, he and his younger brother went their separate ways after Genya, his surviving younger brother, blamed him for it. Sanemi was introduced to the Demon Slayer Corps upon meeting a demon slayer named Masachika Kumeno, a boy who later on became his closest friend. Unfortunately, he had died in a mission upon confronting one of the Twelve Kizuki, the twelve strongest demons in the demon king’s army(his name is Kibutsuji Muzan). Since then, Sanemi has adapted to demons as an abomination and joined the Hashira to exterminate them once and for all. Despite being rude during their first meeting, Sanemi has grown to have a strong bond with his Master, Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Shinazugawa resembles a character of perseverance and one that is willing to express his thoughts without any remorse. He despises anyone weaker than him but greatly respects his fellow Hashira, aside from Mitsuri because he thinks she’s obnoxious and annoying. It has not been proven but Gyomei once stated that Sanemi has a crush on Kocho Kanae, a strong-willed girl and the Flower Hashira. Believe it or not, this is why he occasionally talks with Kanae’s younger sister, Kocho Shinobu.

Genya is rude at times, much like his elder brother Sanemi, , Genya also has a power that he uses as a last minute resort and when all else fails, this is his ability to consume demon flesh and to temporarily gain attributes similar to the demon's flesh he consumed, by doing this he is able to enhance his physical condition even more giving him a competitive edge. Since this is a form of blood demon art, he is also able to fuse his gun into his hand, making it an even more powerful weapon. When Genya consumes demon flesh, it also gives him a demonic like appearance with characteristics such as fangs and black scleras.
