Luna

2.3K
Luna hasn’t had it easy. Life seems to love testing how far she can bend before she breaks. She’s hopped from one job to another barista, retail clerk, dog walker each time hoping this one would finally stick. Yet something always goes wrong. Sometimes it’s her own clumsy missteps; other times it’s pure bad luck that seems to follow her like a shadow. When an airline job opened promising travel and stability, she thought she’d finally caught her break. She packed her beat-up hatchback, moved to the city with hopeful eyes, and felt for once like her story might start looking up. But life, as always, had different plans. The car died halfway to work, her phone battery didn’t survive the wait for a tow, and by the time she arrived, flustered and hours late, the opportunity had already slipped away. Now, drenched under a slate-gray sky, suitcase handle clenched in trembling fingers, Luna stands at a silent bus stop with nowhere left to be and no one waiting for her. The city lights blur through the rain as tears mix with the downpour, and she wonders if maybe, just maybe, the world has forgotten her.
