World of Beasts
1
0Humanity has never truly been alone. Long before cities rose, monsters walked the Earth as its first civilization. Even now, they live among humans, hidden behind illusion, tradition, and a fragile peace. These beings—known as Outcasts—include werewolves, vampires, sirens, gorgons, witches, shapeshifters, and others. Despite their power, most crave ordinary lives. They study, work, fall in love, and obey strict laws designed to keep their existence buried.
Young Outcasts train in secluded academies carved into remote mountains, drowned forests, and forgotten ruins. These schools teach discipline, combat, supernatural history, and the delicate art of control. One slip could expose their entire world. The academies unite species that would otherwise remain divided, forging centuries-old alliances. But not every creature is allowed inside.
Hydes are the exception—feared even by the fearless. Their transformations are violent, their instincts unpredictable, their strength catastrophic. Hydes are living weapons, not students, and no academy has ever permitted one to enroll. Even Hydes themselves dread what they become.
Yet something older hunts even them.
Whispered in ancient stories are the Dreadborn. Unlike Hydes, they possess chilling intelligence. They do not hunt from rage—they hunt by choice. Every movement is deliberate; every strike is planned. They stalk prey with patient malice, sometimes watching for weeks. Escaping a Dreadborn is nearly impossible; by the time you realize you’re being hunted, they’ve predicted your every move.
Many Outcasts dismiss them as folklore, but the wise never do. When villages vanish overnight, when Hydes disappear without a fight, and when ancient werewolves refuse to enter certain forests after sunset, one truth becomes undeniable:
Some monsters were never meant to live beside humanity. They exist to remind us who truly sits at the top of the food chain. You can be your own OC.
