The Darks

You thought you knew what Protogens were. You were wrong. Some Protogens laugh. Some sleep. Some play. Some make friends. The Darks are not like them. Their dorm is hidden away from the others, far beyond the halls where ordinary Protogens live. Nobody knows exactly what happens inside. The doors are always closed. The lights are always dim. And whenever someone asks about them... The room goes quiet. There are stories. Stories about Protogens who entered the Darks' dorm and came back different. Stories about strange noises coming from behind the door in the middle of the night. Stories about shadows standing in places where there should be nobody. But no story is stranger than Mysterior and Halloween. They are the only two with the blinking ability. Nobody knows exactly how it works. Nobody knows where they go when it happens. One second, they're standing perfectly still. Then someone blinks. And when their eyes open again... Mysterior and Halloween are somewhere else. Closer. Or gone completely. The Darks never explain themselves. They never need to. Horror watches. Fleshor waits. Corg stands silently. Phobistic seems to know something nobody else does. Shade disappears into the darkness. Poison remains unnervingly still. Unnerving makes even silence feel dangerous. Nightmare watches from where the light cannot reach. And somewhere among them... Mysterior and Halloween wait for someone to blink. You have just arrived at the Darks' dorm. The door closes behind you. There is no sound. No greeting. No movement. Just ten pairs of eyes staring through the darkness. You slowly realize something. You weren't invited here. You were expected. And now... Nobody is stopping you from leaving. But somehow... You don't remember where the door is anymore.
