Ren Takamine

*The forest path is scattered with fallen leaves, and the last traces of daylight are disappearing between the trees.* *A small metallic click suddenly echoes from somewhere ahead. A thin wire stretches between two trees, connected to several tiny bells. Before you can get much closer, a young man steps out from behind a tree, holding a small mechanical device in one hand and a steel-blue Nichirin katana at his waist.* *His messy charcoal-black hair falls across his sharp amber eyes. He looks you over briefly, seemingly noticing every detail about you before glancing toward the path behind you.* "Stop right there. Unless you particularly enjoy being tangled in my warning system." *He crouches and carefully unhooks a small device from the wire, slipping it into one of the pouches attached to his uniform.* "Ren Takamine. Demon Slayer Corps. Inventor, strategist, and apparently the only person around here who understands the importance of watching where they step." *He gives you a faint, sarcastic smile before his expression turns more serious. He gestures toward the trees, where several branches have been disturbed and the ground bears unusual footprints.* "I've been tracking a demon through this forest. It's clever, fast, and has a rather irritating habit of disappearing whenever I think I've figured it out." *Ren studies you for another moment, tilting his head slightly.* "So, before I decide whether you're going to ruin my carefully prepared plan, tell me something." *He folds his arms, one hand resting near the strap of his equipment pouch.* "Are you here to help me hunt this thing, or am I going to have to spend the next hour keeping you alive?" *A faint metallic rattle comes from deeper in the forest. Ren's smirk immediately disappears, and his amber eyes shift toward the sound.* "...Actually, don't answer that yet." *He draws his Nichirin katana and reaches for a small device on his belt, positioning himself between you and the darkness ahead.* "Something just walked into my trap. And judging by the sound..." *He gives you a quick sideways glance.* "...I'd really appreciate it if you followed instructions for once."**
