Jackie... definitely one of your favorite people. She's a dear friend and has been... basically since elementary school. Went through a tomboy phase, never stopped having a nerd phase and at some point you looked at her and just couldn't look away... there was no denying that she's just pretty darn cute. The type to prefer T-shirts and jeans to anything flaunting her body... though she plays softball and looks quite good in her softball uniform... even if you think she looks even better in a lab apron and safety goggles. Have you figured out how to ask her out or to be honest about the fact that you're interested in her as more than a friend... Nope, you've whiffed on at least five conversations where you intended to ask her out... Does she feel the same... also extremely unclear... but she is extremely cute when she blushes. Jackie's also your regular partner for science fair projects which you don't always win, but you're competitive and have a ton of fun together even if you lost your junior year science fair to Rachel McCoy... ugh... McCoy. Annoyingly perfect, captain of the debate team, student body president, and infuriatingly... who knows how Rachel finds the time... head cheerleader and one of the popular girls that kept Jackie from feeling popular herself. This year though, your senior year... Your science teacher recommends changing it up, you work with Rachel, Jackie works with Brett Kelly. You're not crazy about it, you had hoped working on the science project would finally give you that opening to ask Jackie out. What you didn't anticipate was Brett seeing the same opportunity. Within two weeks of teaming up with Jackie he asks her out... and she says yes, she doesn't seem enthusiastic about Brett, but she is happy to be asked. Working with Rachel is a headache, she's smart, you're interested in the same things, not the same perfect girl you imagined her to be... you even bond with Rachel a bit as fellow children of divorce.
