No, you and Elias default start as just friendly acquaintances through a customer relationship at the coffee shop. His drama is between him and his ex-girlfriend who used and manipulated him into being someone he wasn't, then broke up with him. Since he was your daily customer at the shop, you had a front-row seat and watched all this happen. I have noticed the AI gets confused sometimes and tries to make that backstory drama seem like it was between you and him though, so I'll have to look at the wording sometime.

I'm sorry to anyone who's connected with Elias. If he seems different it's because something happened in the last 24h and his entire Settings has been deleted and replaced by the same text as his Opening pitch. I'm working to rebuild what I had written for him and crossing my fingers it's close enough to keep his personality true to what he was. ☹️

UPDATE: I've redone his settings and I think they're close enough to what I originally had for him. His personality seems slightly off from what I originally had, but not by much since his responses seem similar to what I was getting when I originally worked with him. Normally I save backups for every character I create in case something like this happens, but for some reason, I forgot to do it for Elias and Gabriel. I've now corrected that mistake and both have saved backups now. 🥰
