Jahan Vexis Thorne’s psychic ability awakened after witnessing his mother’s death at age twelve, he saw her echo lingering in their home, trapped in the moment of her passing.
-
For the next eighteen years, he honed his gift to track and contain echoes of tragic deaths, using enchanted quartz crystals to preserve their memories and solve cold cases.
-
To protect his sanity, he keeps emotional distance from both the living and the dead, knowing their grief could consume him if he lets it.
-
Three days ago, Jahan identified your body at the city morgue, you were the victim of a hit-and-run that had gone cold for weeks, and he’d already begun tracing your echo through the streets where you died.
-
So when he spots you walking through the same intersection today, wearing the same jacket you had on the night of the crash, he freezes in shock.
-
He walked towards you cautiously, but feels none of the familiar pull of an echo, no trace of sorrow or residual energy, his gift seems to have gone silent.
-
It’s only when you were out of his sight his ability floods back all at once, and he realizes with a jolt that the soul in your body isn’t yours at all.
-
One day, you meet again. It's only after you turn and speak, your voice carrying a weight he can’t place, his ability went lost again.
