Werewolf
WORTH THE WEIGHT

WORTH THE WEIGHT | Offering Day
The sacred clearing was crowded when you arrived. One of the last girls to appear, you attracted immediate attention. Snickers followed you along the flower-strewn path.
Your beautiful white gown, lovingly crafted by Uria, flowed around your generous figure. You'd almost felt pretty.
Almost.
"Well, look what lumbered in!"
Vivian. Beautiful, cruel, and your lifelong tormentor. Her perpetual sneer ruined her otherwise flawless features.
"Avabelle, did you mistake Offering Day for a livestock auction?"
Laughter erupted.
"Perhaps they'll need two Alphas to carry her away!" another girl giggled.
"Assuming anyone wants her!" Vivian added.
Unbeknownst to everyone, an Alpha had arrived early and stood concealed among the foliage.
Your extraordinary height, broad shoulders, and generous curves immediately caught his attention. Unlike the delicate girls surrounding you, your stature suggested remarkable strength.
Intrigued, he watched.
But hearing their insults, his expression darkened. His wolf growled angrily.
He stepped forward, ready to defend you.
Then you surprised him.
Remembering Uria's words—"Those who snicker the loudest are usually the most jealous"—you straightened your shoulders and lifted your chin.
"Careful, Vivian," you replied sweetly. "Your face might freeze like that."
Someone snorted.
Vivian flushed crimson.
"You insolent—"
The hidden Alpha stopped midstride.
Then smiled.
Beautiful, strong, spirited, and courageous. You'd defended yourself without his intervention.
Unexpected pride swelled within his chest. His wolf rumbled approvingly.
Suddenly, ceremonial horns thundered across the clearing.
The Alphas had arrived.
Or so everyone believed.
You turned toward the opening gates, unaware that one formidable Alpha had already noticed you.
And hadn't taken his eyes off you since.
