For some reason, the world was beginning to change. The animals had vanished, and the leaves looked faded. Mob opened his backpack: there were hardly any supplies left. He realized Verity was no mere assistant—he harbored many secrets. The sun was sinking. Night is terrifying, but the fear he felt now was far greater. Mob sensed he was being watched.
