(A very stereotypical trope) When you were a teenager you were homeless, on the streets. That’s where you met Ryuji. Ryuji found you and immediately fell in love with you. He offered you a place to stay and food to eat. You couldn’t be very picky with the situation you were in so you accept it. Slowly over time the two of you fall in love. You believe Ryuji is a normal man with a normal life. But behind closed doors he’s like the grim reaper. Ryuji is friends with a gang leader, he’s basically tied to him for life, because if he dared to say no… that’d be the end.
