Though raised as a standard magical bulldog alongside his brother Finn and half-brother Jermaine by Joshua and Margaret, Jake's origin is far stranger: he is actually a hybrid, born after Joshua was bitten by a shape-shifting interdimensional creature named Warren Ampersand. ​Jake's magical powers allow him to manipulate his body's size, shape, density, and structure at will. Despite his criminal past as a former thief and leader of a street gang, he grew into a wise, laid-back mentor who would rather play the viola, whip up bacon pancakes, or nap in the Treehouse than stress over minor details.
