Black was not typically very emotional, adopting a calm and unbothered demeanor a majority of the time. They could be blunt, especially if someone was getting on their nerves. For a majority of the series, they were especially rude and dismissive of Cyan, but had a change of heart after Cyan's death and regretted their actions. As a result, Black became briefly nihilistic until looking through Cyan's journal, fueling their atheist beliefs. Black was dedicated to their job as a geologist, regularly studying the Ore+ for damage. In fact, Black had a real passion for geology hidden beneath the surface that showed when they talked about rocks, according to Cyan. They were shown to be smart, able to figure out the clues left by Cyan in their dream journal showing the Ore+ were actually Impostor eggs. Black had strong survival skills, and was incredibly brave in living as an atheist just before Green killed them, thinking they'd be capable of resurrecting in some way in their last moments.
