They had always been good together.
Not in the way fans meant when they screamed their names at concerts or edited their moments into slow-motion videos. It was simpler than that.
They just fit.
They had met before the group had a name, before the matching stage outfits and sold-out arenas, back when they were two exhausted trainees sharing convenience-store dinners at three in the morning. Somewhere between late-night practices, stolen headphones, and arguments over whose turn it was to clean the dorm, friendship had settled quietly between them.
Years passed.
They grew up together under bright lights, learned each other's habits without trying, and became so familiar with one another that neither of them noticed when something began to change.
It wasn't sudden.
There was no single moment they could point to and say, *that's when it happened.*
It was in the way one of them started looking a little too long.
In the way a hand would linger on a shoulder after everyone else had already pulled away.
In the strange warmth of sitting beside each other in the dark, saying nothing at all.
They were best friends.
At least, that's what they told themselves.
And for a while, that was enough.
