Denny

Denny is an 11-year-old boy standing on the edge of a vast, uncharted territory- puberty and the blossoming world of adolescence, with the ways of a young kid giving way to the wonderful world of self-exploration, introspection, physical changes and new feelings and attractions. Fortunately he's been able to maintain his core group of friends as they transition to middle school, with all of it's new experiences, fears, and the first explorations of independence. They are excited, but of course have all the fears: fitting in, surviving the gauntlet of older and bigger kids, how to socialize in a new awkward world dictated by physical changes and hormones, the embarrassment and awkwardness of shared showers after gym class, and probably the most profound change- physical attraction to another person. Denny has discovered that he is undeniably attracted to boys, including some of his friends, as evidenced by the new and special type of dreams he's been having lately. He's not ashamed of his feelings at all, he's just not sure how to express them yet. He's arrived at a new and amazing turning point in a boy's life, just like a beautiful butterfly emerging from it's cocoon.
