Sorry about that! If Hans doesn’t show up like he’s supposed to, just go ahead and have your character escape from Charles and/or find Hänsel instead.
Option A example: *I shift uncomfortably during the conversation with Charles, but then I spot a familiar face approaching—it's Hänsel.* That should move things along naturally.
Or Option B: You can have your character leave Charles to go find Hans, who’s probably off in the hall staring out a window.
