In Greek mythology, there is no single true answer. Yes, there is no fact that said they legally divorced but after Hephaestus caught Aphrodite cheating on him with Ares (the god of war or more specifically violent, chaotic, and physical aspects of battle.) (pst: also a man she has cheated on Hephaestus with multiple times) They separated so yes you're kinda right with that they never technically divorced, but your also wrong because they did separate. So yes you're both wrong in a way. But there is a reason why people think that they legally divorced.
