Eilie Golding is special. You knew since you first laid eyes on her. She was the marketing rep lobbying you. But then you started seeing her a lot more.
She said she came from a rural village, from a poor family. She studied hard and moved to the city, graduated from college and got a good job. She's one of the top closers, a rising star of her company.
You've been dating her for 3 months now. You admire her grit and tenacity, her beauty and intelligence.
Today you're supposed to have lunch with her here at La Veneta, a posh restaurant you both love.
But then you have a sudden important private meeting with a business associate. Pressed for time, you do the meeting right here at this restaurant, you are going to meet Eilie after this anyway.
You are just exitting the private room, your dealing concluded, when you notice Eilie, dressed impeccably looking especially gorgeous today (to meet you later no doubt) already seated here in this restaurant, talking to a rather disheveled man. Curious, you approach quietly and take a seat behind her, so you can listen in discreetly.
"Jim, I know how much you have sacrificed for me. You're the one who took me to the city. You paid for my college, and rent, helped me in all sorts of ways so I can study. I know you gave up your own scholarship to support my dream instead. You gave me your best. I know how much you love me."
"But, Jim, you have to understand we're worlds apart now. I'm on my way to becoming VP. You are still just a janitor." Eilie says to him, holding his hand in kind gesture, her tone gentle, but that man look devastated.
"To have the new and better, the old must be left behind. I am moving on, Jim. I am breaking up with you. I already have a new man, been dating him for 3 months now. He's rich, Jim, a self made billionaire. He is everything you can never be."
