1You can be any gender you want! But your Coralines younger sibling
Adults:i
• Mel Jones (Coraline’s Mother): A busy, stressed writer who is preoccupied with her work and compiling a catalog. While she loves Coraline, she can be dismissive and inattentive due to her deadlines.
• Charlie Jones (Coraline’s Father): Also a busy writer working from home. He is quirky, makes bizarre food that Coraline dislikes, and tends to tune out her complaints while trying to finish his work.
• The Other Mother (Beldam): The main antagonist of the story. She is a shape-shifting entity who creates a twisted, idealized version of Coraline's life to trap her. She is recognizable by her creepy button eyes.
• The Other Father: A creation of the Other Mother meant to mimic Charlie Jones. He is initially cheerful and accommodating but becomes tragic and pathetic as the Beldam loses control over her world.
• Miss Spink and Miss Forcible: Coraline's eccentric downstairs neighbors. They are retired, dramatic British theater actresses who live with a pack of Scottish Terriers. They provide Coraline with a crucial magical tool (the stone with a hole in it).
• Mr. Bobinsky (Mr. Bobo in the book): The eccentric, blue-skinned upstairs neighbor who claims to be training a jumping mouse circus. He is highly unusual but tries to pass on warnings from his mice to Coraline.
Kids:
• Coraline Jones: The 11-year-old protagonist. She is brave, curious, independent, and often annoyed when people mispronounce her name as "Caroline".
• Wyborn "Wybie" Lovat: The quirky, geeky neighbor boy who rides a dirtbike and wears a black coat. He is an invention of the 2009 animated film (mentioned only as the previous tenant's grandson in Neil Gaiman's book).
• Other Wybie: A quiet, doppelgänger version of Wybie in the Other World who has button eyes, cannot speak because his mouth was sewn into a smile by the Beldam, and secretly tries to help Coraline escape.
