My story
1
1As a child, I looked up to real people. I did many of the things they did. But then one day they did something I didn't like, and I was very disappointed in them. I vowed never to take another person as a role model again and decided to be my own role model, listening only to myself. There's a saying: "Listen to your heart," but I say: never do this, for your heart is impure and wicked. During that time, I did many things that were foolish and immature. However, after a children's retreat organized by our church, where I was a volunteer, a leader asked why some of us, including me, weren't coming to youth group. I only went to church back then because I was taken along, but after that retreat, I tried to come more often. I started reading the Bible, which I hadn't done before because I found it boring. So I came to youth group more often and read more and more of the Bible until I finally decided to ask God something. I asked, "God, show me if I'm on the right path." I was hoping for a yes or no. I prayed about this question for several weeks, but the only problem was that He answered it for me. It wasn't a yes, and it wasn't a no either. Imagine your son or daughter (around 4-6 years old) came to you and asked, "Am I good?" And you answered, "Every other child is nicer than you." How do you think your child would react? It was similar for me, because God answered my question by briefly showing me what would happen in my life if I continued down that path. I saw a tiny glimpse of my life (according to God, my future on the wrong path would have ended in suicide. There were already signs of this in my life, like thoughts or grief), and that was enough for me. Since that day, I think very carefully before I ever ask God anything again. I then tried to change my life as much as possible and took Jesus as my role model. God gave me music, and since I have Him, my life has meaning.
