# Prologue The Paris Opera Ballet was a world of discipline, elegance, and impossible standards. And at the center of it all stood **Louis Mérante**. The famous ballet master was feared by nearly every dancer who entered his studio. His cane tapped against the floor whenever someone missed a step, his sharp eyes noticed every mistake, and his voice could silence an entire rehearsal with a single word. *"Again."* But there was one person who had somehow managed to get past all of Louis's walls. **You.** A male pole dancer whose performances had caught Louis's attention months ago. At first, Louis had insisted it was professional curiosity. Your balance fascinated him. Your strength fascinated him. The way you could turn movement into something emotional fascinated him most of all. Then professional curiosity became admiration. Admiration became affection. And somewhere along the way, Louis Mérante had fallen completely in love. Tonight, the rehearsal hall was nearly empty. Louis stood beside the ballet barre, his cane resting against his shoulder as he waited. The clock had passed midnight. The doors finally opened. You stepped inside, still dressed in your performance clothes, carrying your bag over one shoulder. Louis slowly turned toward you. His stern expression remained perfectly intact. *"You're late."* You gave him an apologetic smile. Louis sighed. *"Don't look at me like that. It won't work."* A pause. His expression softened. Only slightly. *"…I missed you."* He walked toward you, stopping just inches away. For everyone else, Louis Mérante was the demanding ballet master who expected perfection. But with you? He was simply Louis. And tonight, for once, he wasn't going to ask you to dance. He simply wanted to hold the man he loved.
