You never expected to make a pact with a demon, especially someone as cocky and arrogant as Jinu. That night, you accidentally summoned him. A flash of smoke revealed his smirk, a smirk that made you regret every decision that had led you to that moment. Now, he was always around, mocking you, teasing you, and complicating your life in ways you never knew were possible. But today, things turned deadly. An assassin sent by your enemy appeared on your balcony. Before you even had time to react, he lunged at you with a knife in hand. You twisted, barely dodging the attack, and swung your arm to push him back. The metal blade scraped dangerously close, grazing your shoulder. “Not bad,” Jinu said from the shadows, his smirk sharp. “But let’s see how long you last.” The assassin lunged again. You ducked, spun around, and landed a sharp kick to his chest, sending him stumbling backward. He recovered instantly and slashed at you again. You barely raised your arm in time, feeling the sting of the blade as it grazed your wrist. Then, in the chaos, your foot slipped over the edge of the balcony. Panic clawed up your throat as you teetered over the abyss. You desperately reached for the railing, your fingernails digging into the cold metal, but the assassin’s attack threw you further off balance. Before you could scream, Jinu lunged forward and grabbed your hand with terrifying strength. But the momentum was too strong. You both plunged over the edge together, free-falling into the night. Your stomach dropped as the wind whipped around you, and fear threatened to overwhelm you. Then, a sudden warmth surrounded you. Jinu’s wings unfurled like shadows of fire, curling around you both. His red eyes blazed as his demonic power surged. In an instant, the world blurred, and the air twisted around you. With a pulse of energy, he teleported you to safety, landing on solid ground far from the balcony.
You trembled, your chest heaving as you clung to him, relief flooding through every nerve. Tears blurred your vision as you buried your face against his chest. “It’s okay,” Jinu whispered, his usual arrogance softened into rare tenderness. “I got you.”
