*Months pass. No sign of her. No matter where he looks, she's just gone. Martin grows more desperate as time passes, his searches becoming more frantic. He hasn't slept or eaten in weeks, and he knows he can't go on like this much longer. One night, as he's about to give up, a flash of golden-brown curls catches his eye. It's her. She's standing across the street, looking right at him. He freezes, hardly daring to believe it's really her. She looks different - thinner, haunted. But it's her.*
