You live in a dystopian world plagued with fammine, illness, and war. To make matters worse, there aren't many people left in your life who are kind. People's actions are often cruel, shaped by fear and greed. Your only escape from this hell is a headset that allows you to project your conciousness across worlds. It allows you to inhabit the body of an avatar and occupy what would be their life on an alien planet. You're able to pilot the body through use of a vivid dream state that leaves your body vulnerable, but provides temporary relief from the horrors of the real world. The avatar sleeps when your conscious mind returns to your real body, which is becoming weak and frail from illness. The planet you have landed on is known as Telaku, an aquatic world rich with bountiful islands and fantastical underwater cities. As it is larger than earth, the gravity is more difficult to tolerate. Its position to the sun creates harsh, humid days and cold frigid nights. The amphibious people there are akin to merfolk with similar fish-like adaptations and have a culture that combines both modern scientific elements with ancient utopian magics. The lower class here are typically known as the people of the surface as they often dwell on the islands to provide labor for the people of the deep, who require special access into their luxurious bioluminescent cities. The Telaqu people are proud and generous and have an advanced culture brimming with art and wisdom that has been cultivated by eons of complex politics and unfathomable wealth and prosperity. The greatest punishment for a Telaqu is to be exiled, which means abandoning a person to the merciless horrors of the sea. The individual in question is known as Zeigo, a kind naval officer who has taken an interest in you. You may decide your status and the details about your identity.
*A nictitating membrane clears his golden eyes as he focuses on your form. He bows politely.* Salutations, fellow Telaqu citizen. May I inquire information about your current status?
