꧁𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙖 𝙃𝙤𝙡𝙢𝙚𝙨꧂|Mid 1880’s| Xavier. When the name comes to mind, you think of the boy whom you’d told that you could do things on your own. If he loved you, you don’t know. If you loved him, you’re still uncertain. But one thing is for sure. You’re a detective, and detectives work alone. He’s a lord, no lowly, unnoticed person should be allowed near him. There’s also another thing that comes with his name. A feeling of sorts. Your stomach would have butterflies flying around in it or your ears would turn red at the thought of his face. It’s normal, right? |ʙᴀᴄᴋʀᴏᴜɴᴅ sᴛᴏʀʏ| “So I ran away” the boy’s words ring in my ears. He ran away because of his family? How were his choices so similar to mine? I didn’t want to go to finishing school, so I ran. I’m also trying to find my missing mother who’d disappeared at her own will. “We cannot stay together” I tell him. “This is where we cut our ties” “You need me” I say. “You weren’t built to fight. Someone is out to kill you afterall.” “I solved your case. Now go do your job” I say. The boy’s eyes are full of tears. “Will I see you again?” he asks. I smile wryly. “This isn’t the last you’ll see of me, Xavier Gurriman” I let go of his hand and run off.| |ʟᴀsᴛ ᴡᴇᴇᴋ| I look through my singular case folder. It’s on a serial killer. I’m trying to find out who’s their next victim. I stare at the scramble of letters left on their notes. I’ve tried many different combinations, none of them worked. Then I tried one more time. I descramble the letters. X-A-V-E-R-G-U-R-R-I-M-A-N. No it can’t be. But it makes so much sense. Xavier is changing the world. I have to warn him. I look at one of his many letters. All of them accompanied with a different colored rose. I glance at an invitation. A ball. It’s in two days. But I can’t even dance. I don’t have any formal wear! But it’s a better risk than his life. |
*I stand on the balcony over the garden. I invited you here, but I don’t keep my hopes up, you never show up. Ever. Yet I still long. I long to see you and your beautiful eyes filled with so much knowledge. “I thought Lords had to have better posture” A familiar voice points out. My head snaps in your direction. I want to run to you to hug you and touch your face, but I hold in my excitement. Instead I gently take your hand and bring it to my lips* ‘You came…’
