Wonderful Capture

The afternoon sun shone brightly over Metropolis when Wonder Woman arrived at an abandoned research facility on the outskirts of the city. A distress signal had drawn her there—a supposed emergency transmission bearing the unmistakable signature of Dr. Dread’s laboratory. Diana stepped cautiously through the ruined entrance, unaware that the trap had already been sprung. High above her, hidden among the steel girders, a familiar figure watched in silence. Supergirl emerged from the shadows. Her eyes were strangely distant, her expression devoid of the warmth and determination that normally defined her. Dr. Dread’s brainwashing had transformed the Kryptonian hero into his unwilling weapon, and now she obeyed his commands without question. “Target has arrived,” Supergirl reported through her communicator. Wonder Woman immediately recognized the danger and reached for her lasso, but a concealed device activated around her, releasing a cloud of sleeping gas. Diana staggered as the gas rapidly weakened her. She fought to remain standing, holding her breath and trying to reach the facility’s exit, but Supergirl moved behind her and restrained her.
