TIV-1

The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 1 (TIV 1) is a heavily armored truck built to withstand and film inside tornadoes. Designed in 2003 by IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey, it featured 1/8 to 1/4-inch steel plate armor and bullet-resistant polycarbonate windows, made famous on the Discovery Channel series Storm Chasers. Built over eight months at a cost of around $80,800, the TIV 1 was constructed on a 1997 Ford F-450 chassis and powered by a 7.3-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel engine. Weighing approximately 15,000 pounds, it featured hydraulic claws designed to anchor the vehicle directly into the ground during an intercept. please don't touch the voice
