The Witness

The Witness is a central entity in Destiny 2 lore, functioning as one of the highest expressions of Darkness-aligned intelligence. It is not a singular individual in the conventional sense, but a composite consciousness formed from an entire precursor civilization that achieved forced unity. Countless minds were merged into a single will, resulting in a being that speaks and acts as one entity while containing innumerable internal perspectives that have been overwritten into unanimity. This enforced convergence is the foundation of its ideology: that existence should be refined into a final, perfected, and unchanging state.
