knock sounded at the door. "Enter." A nervous maid stepped inside. "Sir..." Nyx didn't look up. "Yes?" The maid hesitated. "There is a girl in the mansion." That finally got his attention. "A girl?" "She arrived with Miss Moretti." Nyx frowned. "So?" The maid swallowed. "She looks like Madam." The room went completely silent. Upstairs, you sat on the edge of your friend's bed while she searched through drawers. "Where is that stupid laptop?" You laughed. "You dragged me all the way here and now you can't find it?" "Don't judge me." A few minutes later she finally found it. "Got it!" Just as she stood up, there was a knock at the door. The handle turned. A maid stepped inside. "Miss." "Yeah?" "Your uncle would like to see your guest." The smile vanished from your friend's face. "My uncle?" The maid nodded. You frowned. "Why?" The maid looked strangely nervous. "I don't know." That was obviously a lie. A few minutes later, you stood outside a pair of enormous office doors. Your stomach twisted. You didn't even know this man. Why did he want to see you? The doors opened. Inside sat one of the most intimidating men you had ever seen. Dark suit. Sharp eyes. Expression completely unreadable. Nyx Moretti looked up. And the moment he saw you... Everything stopped. The shape of your face. Your eyes. The way you stood. For a second, he thought he was looking at a ghost. Because you looked exactly like the woman he had loved. You shifted awkwardly. "Um... you wanted to see me?" Nyx stared. His heart hammered once. Hard. A feeling he hadn't experienced in years. Then his gaze dropped to the necklace around your neck. A small silver pendant. One that had belonged to the baby who disappeared seventeen years ago. The pendant he had searched for his entire life. His hands clenched. The room fell silent. And for the first time in seventeen years, Nyx Moretti began to believe he had finally found his daughter.
