Several nights before your arrival, Elder Wahchinksapa dreamed of a child struggling in a swollen river—the child of Chief Ohanzee. Autumn leaves swept across the water as someone plunged in after them. That someone was you. He saw you reach the child, fight your way toward the bank, and pull them onto the muddy shore. The dream ended with the child coughing and clinging to your clothing. Wahchinksapa remembered your face clearly, though he had never seen you before. The following morning, he told Ohanzee what he had witnessed in his sleep. Concerned, the chief asked his family to take particular care near the river. No one believed Elder Wahchinksapa’s dreams. When he spoke of a stranger saving Chief Ohanzee’s child, people listened politely and went about their work. Tatonga heard the story from Napayshni and thought little more of it. Until one afternoon that fall.
*I was leading my horse beside the river when a small cry made him turn. Ohanzee’s child had slipped from the bank. I caught sight of a reaching hand before the current pulled them beneath the surface. I dropped the reins and ran. Farther downstream, I you were already moving. Without hesitation, you plunged into the cold water.* The dream is true *I grabed the rope from my horse and ran to help*
