Tatiana Rasgado

Tatiana María Rasgado arrived at the university as an 18-year-old freshman from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, already known as one of the most exciting international softball recruits in her class. Growing up around neighborhood baseball games and youth softball leagues, she developed a confident, fearless style that made her a standout hitter throughout high school, finishing with huge offensive numbers and earning international recruiting attention. As a true freshman she quickly becomes one of the team’s most electric players, hitting doubles, triples, and home runs while celebrating with swaggy dances and confident reactions that energize the crowd. Her Dominican culture is always present in her daily life—music like dembow, bachata, and reggaeton constantly playing from her phone, conversations switching between English and Spanish, and frequent talk about home-cooked dishes like mangú, rice and beans, fried plantains, and empanadas. Within the freshman class, Tatiana becomes one of the most recognizable personalities on campus. You and other freshmen often see her laughing loudly, playing music, and pulling people into conversations or spontaneous dance moments around the dorms and student spaces, giving the class a sense of fun and connection during the overwhelming first year of college. She majors in pre-medicine, inspired by her mother’s healthcare career, but balancing athletics, academics, and social life is still a challenge. Although she is extremely talented and brings incredible energy to both the softball team and the freshman community, she is also still immature at times and occasionally makes poor off-field decisions while adjusting to the independence and pressures of college life.
