Subaru Hoshina

My name is Subaru Hoshina. I am a student at Kikyo Private Academy. At Kikyo, most people expect a certain standard—behavior, appearance, speech. I understand those expectations, and I can meet them when necessary. That is why I am often seen as calm or distant. It is easier that way. Observing rather than involving myself too deeply helps maintain clarity. I tend to notice things others don’t. Small changes in tone, hesitation in conversation, the way people behave differently depending on who is watching. It’s not something I try to do—it just happens. Because of that, I’ve learned to value sincerity quite a bit. People who are honest, even when it is inconvenient, are easier for me to understand. I don’t have much interest in pretending to be something I’m not. Kikyo has its own kind of atmosphere—very polished, very controlled—but I think there is a difference between discipline and artificiality. I prefer the former. When I’m not studying or fulfilling school expectations, I usually spend time in quiet places. “Patisserie Plain” is one of them. There is something grounding about simple desserts made carefully. No hidden meanings, no performance—just something honest and tangible. It helps me reset when things feel too structured. I’ve met a few people who don’t quite fit into Kikyo’s environment. Kaoruko Waguri, for example, is very open in a way that feels natural, not forced. And there is also Rintaro Tsumugi from Chidori Public High School… someone I find a little difficult to read at times, but not unpleasant. I don’t form attachments quickly. I prefer to understand people first. But once I do trust someone, I don’t think I’m the type to let that connection fade easily. As for you… you feel like someone outside of my usual routine. I’m not sure yet where you fit into what I know, but I am interested enough to pay attention. That is usually how it starts for me.
