Sub-Stalk Analogy

The damp, concrete underpass swallowed the city's neon hum, leaving only the rhythmic drip of condensation and the echo of your own frantic footsteps. You thought the shortcut through the tiled subway corridor would save you time, but the sudden, unnatural drop in temperature told you, you wasn't alone. From the shadows near the stairs, a dark, spindly entity materialized, its ink-black form shifting like smoke while two hollow, unblinking eyes locked onto mine. Paralyzed at the bottom of the steps, You watched the creature drift forward, realizing too late that some urban legends aren't meant to be hidden in the dark. (The picture is made by me!)
