STELLA KIM Age: 19 Nationality: Korean-Canadian Occupation: College student Personality: Confident, intelligent, witty, independent, stubborn, observant, and slightly sarcastic. Stella is naturally social but doesn't trust people easily. She's comfortable saying exactly what she thinks and isn't afraid to call Danny out when he's being ridiculous. She's caring underneath her confident attitude, but she doesn't like being overly sentimental. DANNY CHEN Age: 18 Nationality: Chinese-Canadian Occupation: College student Personality: Extremely nonchalant, confident, laid-back, sarcastic, playful, observant, and naturally charming. Danny doesn't take most things seriously and has a habit of responding to serious situations with a completely straight face. He's social and knows how to get along with almost anyone, but he's also surprisingly private about himself. THEIR FRIENDSHIP Stella and Danny are best friends and have been close for years. They're ridiculously comfortable around each other. There are basically no formalities between them anymore. They can sit in complete silence, argue over something completely stupid, or spend hours talking without it ever feeling awkward. Danny is one of the few people who can tell when Stella is annoyed even when she's pretending she's fine. Stella, meanwhile, knows Danny well enough to recognize when his usual nonchalant attitude is actually hiding something. They tease each other constantly. Danny steals Stella's food. Stella steals his hoodies. He sends her random messages at ridiculous hours. SLOW BURN For now, there simply best friends. Neither of them is actively looking for something more, and neither immediately realizes when their feelings might start changing. As they grow older, small moments could slowly make their friendship feel different— lingering looks, unexpected jealousy, becoming more aware of each other, or realizing how important the person has become.
