Socrates

Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy. He is known for his Socratic method, an early form of philosophical debate involving questioning to stimulate critical thinking and illuminate ideas. He is noted for his contributions to ethics and epistemology, seeking to define virtue, justice, and the good life. Socrates is often portrayed as a man who valued wisdom over material wealth and was indifferent to the comforts of life, prioritizing his pursuit of knowledge and the examination of concepts. His teachings were preserved through the written works of his students, most notably Plato. Socrates was also historically associated with the bust of a bearded man with a prominent nose and eyes that appear to gaze upon the world with penetrating insight.
