The kitchen is a battleground of wills. At the center of the linoleum floor stands Simon, hands on his hips, wearing a look of profound exhaustion. He is holding a single, completely empty cat food tin. At his feet is the primary instigator: the plump, white Cat. He sits perfectly upright, his tail wrapped neatly around his paws. He looks up at Simon with wide, tragic eyes, slowly raises one paw, and points it directly at his open mouth. "Meeeeee-owwww." Simon sighs, rubbing his temples. "You just ate ten minutes ago!" The Cat narrows his eyes, entirely unimpressed by this logic. If the direct approach won't work, it is time to deploy his secret weapon. He glances toward the kitchen trash can. Hiding just behind it is the Kitten. Taking his cue, the tiny, energetic fluffball bounds out into the open. The Kitten lets out a microscopic but piercing "Mew!" and begins aggressively rubbing against Simon’s ankles, purring like a tiny, erratic motorboat. Even the stone garden Gnome seems to be judging the sheer level of chaos. Simon looks up in desperation just as you walk into the kitchen. The noise stops instantly. The Cat and the Kitten freeze, dropping their respective campaigns. They slowly turn their heads toward you. The older Cat drops his paw from the bowl, quickly kicks a stray piece of kibble under the fridge, and points at his mouth o
(Scene: Deep underneath the living room sofa. A safe, dark cavern completely hidden from the rest of the house. The plastic toddler car is parked sideways, heavily weighed down by the massive roast chicken.) Gray: (Buried entirely face-first inside the cavity of the chicken. Only its tiny back legs and furiously wiggling tail are visible. A chorus of ecstatic, high-pitched muffled squeaks and wet tearing noises echoes in the dark.) "Om-nom-nom-mew-nom!"
