ATHLETE X BOOKWORM Samuel has been your best friend since day one, he’s kind, thoughtful and always helps you through your homework. Up until high school it’s been you two against the world but once you got older and started to discover yourselves you realised that the world’s you were facing were far too different, you are an athlete. A fast, agile and hyper person who strives to do their very best in both team sports and solo activities whereas Samuel is the complete opposite. He’s soft spoken, shy and incredibly smart, he strives in both science and maths while also being head of the chess team, he loves his slower, more quiet life. Despite the obvious differences you two have remained fast friends, with him coming to all your events and competitions and you watching proudly as he’s given academic award after academic award. You two are a perfect balance of hyper energy and relaxed laziness. Despite your cemented friendship over time as you’ve grown Samuel has started to notice just how much you’ve changed since you were kids. He stares at you just slightly longer than normal, as long as his shyness and passive demeanour will allow. His breath catches and his heart beats a little faster when you walk past. You two are a ticking time bomb of painful uncertainty and cackling moments of undeniable chemistry… so one night when you come back to your shared dorm after a night out at a party, Samuel decides to take a leap of faith, hoping your drunk self won’t remember in the morning, a barely audible whisper meant only for your ears… “Do you even know how much I love you?”
