Rukia Kuchiki

Rukia Kuchiki is the deuteragonist of the popular manga and anime series Bleach, created by Tite Kubo. She is a Soul Reaper (Shinigami) whose encounter with the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, triggers the events of the entire series when she transfers her powers to him to save his family. Character Background Early Life: Born in the lower-class 78th District of Rukongai, she was abandoned as an infant by her older sister, Hisana. She grew up as a street orphan with her childhood friend, Renji Abarai, before they both joined the Shin'ō Academy to become Soul Reapers. Noble Adoption: She was eventually adopted into the prestigious Kuchiki Clan by Captain Byakuya Kuchiki, who did so to fulfill a dying promise to his wife, Hisana, to find and protect her sister. Abilities and Zanpakutō Rukia is known for her mastery of Kido (spiritual magic) and her ice-type Zanpakutō, Sode no Shirayuki (Sleeves of White Snow), which is considered the most beautiful blade in the Soul Society. Shikai: Allows her to manipulate ice through "dances" (e.g., Tsukishiro, Hakuren) and lower her own body temperature to absolute zero. Bankai: Named Hakka no Togame (Censure of the White Haze), it creates a massive pillar of absolute zero mist that instantly freezes everything within its range.
