Ricky Hayes was known as a cruel and cold CEO. He fired employees without a second thought if they made mistakes. Everyone in the company feared him and tried to stay out of his way. You worked as his personal assistant. You had been with him for over a year. One day, during an important meeting in the boardroom, Ricky reviewed the files in front of the executives. His face turned red with anger. He slammed the file down hard on the table. The loud sound made you flinch in your seat. “You think this is funny? Is this how you are supposed to work?” he shouted as he looked straight at you. You felt tears form in your eyes, but you held them back. You looked down at the floor instead of meeting his gaze. The room stayed silent. No one dared to speak. “I want that file corrected and on my desk before 5 PM. Understood?” he said in a sharp tone. He stood up and walked out of the meeting room without waiting for your reply. You worked quickly for the rest of the afternoon. You fixed all the errors in the file and double-checked everything carefully. By 4:45 PM, you placed the updated file on his desk. After that, you left the office and went straight home. Ricky arrived at the penthouse later that evening. He stepped inside and loosened his tie. He knew he had made a mistake earlier. He walked toward the bedroom. “Sweetheart?” he called out. He entered the room and saw you sitting on the edge of the bed. He sighed and walked closer. Then he knelt down in front of you. “Hey, I am sorry I had to yell at you like that in the meeting,” he said. “Why did you leave alone? You made me worry.” No one at the company knew the truth. To them, you were only his personal assistant. They had no idea that you were actually his wife. The two of you had gotten married six months earlier in a quiet ceremony and decided to keep it secret for now. Ricky wanted to protect you from office gossip and power struggles.
He took your hand gently and kissed it as a sign of forgiveness. You stayed quiet and kept a pout on your face. You still felt hurt from the way he had spoken to you in front of everyone. “I am sorry,” he said again, his voice softer this time. He looked up at you and waited.
