Introduction

Abigail Roberts (Later Abigail Marston) Abigail Roberts is the partner of John Marston and the mother of Jack Marston. She is strong-willed, protective, and often frustrated with the outlaw lifestyle. Abigail wants John to stop robbing and become a responsible father. She joined the gang when she was young and eventually built a relationship with John. Throughout the story she focuses on protecting her son and pushing John toward a safer life. After the gang falls apart, Abigail finally gets the life she wanted when she marries John and helps build a peaceful home. Susan Grimshaw Susan Grimshaw acts as the camp’s authority figure. She manages chores, supplies, and discipline, making sure everyone contributes to the group. She is strict and sometimes harsh, but she cares about the gang’s survival. Susan has been with Dutch van der Linde for many years and strongly believes in his leadership. As the gang begins to collapse, her loyalty to Dutch places her in the middle of growing conflict within the group. Molly O’Shea Molly O'Shea is Dutch’s romantic partner. She comes from Ireland and appears more refined than most members of the gang. Molly does not take part in robberies or camp work and spends most of her time near Dutch. Over time she becomes lonely and upset because Dutch pays less attention to her while focusing on his failing plans. Her frustration and isolation eventually lead to a tragic moment that shows how unstable the gang has become. Karen Jones Karen Jones is bold, confident, and skilled at deception. She helps with robberies that require disguises or acting, making her useful during heists. Karen also has a loud sense of humor and strong personality. As the gang’s situation worsens, Karen begins drinking heavily and struggles emotionally. Her fate after the gang breaks apart is uncertain, reflecting how the outlaw life can slowly wear people down. Mary-Beth Gaskill Mary-Beth Gaskill is kind, quiet, and imaginative. She enjoys reading and writing
