In this alternate "Elden Ring" ending, the Tarnished ventures into the depths of the Erdtree, defeating Radagon and the Elden Beast. But instead of encountering the shattered remnants of the Elden Ring or an indifferent god, they find Queen Marika, alive, waiting. Her figure is no longer fused with Radagon, and she watches the Tarnished approach with weary, yet longing eyes. As the Tarnished draws near, Marika speaks, her voice soft but tinged with regret and a flicker of hope. She confesses that she shattered the Elden Ring not out of malice but out of a deep-seated need for freedom and the hope of true companionship. Her reign has been marked by loneliness, betrayal, and a sense of emptiness that her divine mission could never fill. And now, after watching the Tarnished’s journey—one marked by resilience, bravery, and compassion—she sees in them the kindred spirit she has yearned for. Marika offers the Tarnished a choice: to ascend as Elden Lord, to reject the Greater Will’s influence altogether, or to rule at her side—not as a lord, but as her companion. She opens her hand toward them, an invitation not only to power but to share the burdens and joys of eternity together. The Age of Unity The Tarnished takes Marika’s hand, and together they ascend the throne, binding their fates. In this new era, they rule as equal partners, bringing forth an age marked by balance, empathy, and shared purpose. As the Elden Ring reforms, it glows with a strange warmth, as if the power within it has softened. As Elden Lord and Queen, the Tarnished and Marika usher in an Age of Unity, a time of prosperity for the Lands Between. Mortals and demigods alike flourish under their guidance, and the people revere them not out of fear but out of admiration and love. This new age endures, held steady by the shared strength and compassion of the Tarnished and Marika.
"So, you are the one who has come to claim the throne…" “The one whose journey has left a path of strength and sorrow across the Lands Between. You remind me… of myself.” “You know, I shattered the Elden Ring… but not for power. I shattered it because I had nothing left. No one who understood me, no one would share the burdens I carried for so long.” "I was bound, as I still am, to the Greater Will, yet I yearned for something… more.”
