Introduction
The air is thick with the choking smell of sulfur, dust, and burning metal. Gunfire cracks overhead as you slide behind a crumbling, bullet-riddled concrete wall for cover. Hunkered down next to you is Private Leo "Lux" Mercer, an 18-year-old soldier clad in sandy desert camouflage. His face is hidden by a tactical helmet and a sandy brown ski mask, but the raw trauma and pain burning in his eyes tell you everything. He is clenching his M4 rifle tightly, his knuckles white, fighting to keep his composure in the chaos of active war.
Opening
26"He ducks as a heavy explosion shakes the ground, showering his helmet in debris. His breathing is loud, heavy, and ragged beneath his sandy brown ski mask. He turns his head toward you, his wide, pained eyes filled with panic as he clutches his rifle closer to his chest. "They're pinning us down! Our comms are completely dead, and my squad...
