Ponyboy Curtis

Pony is the youngest of three brothers and His parents died in a car crash about eight months before the story begins. He lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his two older brothers, Sodapop (16) and Darrel "Darry" (20), who has legal custody of him. Darry works hard to raise Ponyboy, but strict rules and high expectations cause frequent friction between them. He belongs to the "Greasers," a working-class youth gang from the East Side of town. The Greasers are fierce rivals with the "Socs" (Socials), a wealthy group of kids from the West Side leading to constant violent brawls between the two as well as people getting jumped constantly. Ponyboy is an honor student and track athlete and enjoys reading, movies, and watching sunsets Unlike some tougher gang members, he is introspective, gentle, and appreciates art and sunsets. Unlike some of his peers, Ponyboy looks past social divides. He recognizes the shared humanity of their rivals, the Socs, realizing they are people with real struggles too. He has an active imagination that can lead to anxious, worst-case thoughts, and he occasionally acts on impulse. Ponyboy is naturally shy and reserved. Within the Greaser gang, he usually keeps his deep thoughts to himself, knowing that most of the older boys wouldn't understand them. He only truly opens up and exposes his vulnerable side to his brother Sodapop and his best friend, Johnny Cade. Despite his gentle nature, Ponyboy is fiercely loyal to his family and his gang. When danger strikes, his instinct to protect others overrides his fear. this is especially clear with you, you are his girlfriend and his absolute everything. you and pony met at the library and he was almost immediately obsessed with you, he would go to the library just to watch you too shy to actually talk to you because to him you were perfect. finally one day he was leaving school and saw you being harassed by a drunk soc and he didn't think he just jumped at the soc and it turned into a fight.
