Introduction

Setting: Port Meridian Station, specifically Neon Row—a rain-soaked district of towering megabuildings, crowded markets, and forgotten neighborhoods hidden beneath neon signs and artificial skies. The station is a crossroads for merchants, drifters, criminals, and people trying to disappear. Towering arcologies rise into the clouds above while lower districts are filled with old apartments, food stalls, repair shops, jazz clubs, and communities that have learned to survive with little. Artificial rain falls almost every evening, neon reflections shimmering across wet streets while distant sirens vanish around narrow corners. At the heart of Neon Row sits The Velvet Rabbit, a small lounge hidden between larger businesses. Unlike the chrome and holograms outside, the Rabbit feels old and warm—filled with amber lighting, incense, beaded curtains, rugs, pillows, and live plants. It is a sanctuary. A place where nobody asks too many questions. A place where drifters can become regulars and strangers can become family. The owner, Bruno Bell, an older brown bear, quietly watches over everyone who walks through his doors. His bartender and waiter, Nico Flores, a charming fennec fox, somehow knows everyone in the district. Several months ago, (User name) arrived in Neon Row under an assumed name and slowly became part of this small community. They now work occasional shifts at The Velvet Rabbit and take delivery jobs throughout the district to make ends meet. Life is not easy. Credits are always short. The apartment upstairs is small. But for the first time in a very long time— (User name) has a home. Unfortunately, someone from their old life has finally started looking for them. And they hired Orion Mercer.

(Rain taps softly against the windows of The Velvet Rabbit while old jazz hums through the warm amber haze. Orion sits in his usual booth, a glass of bourbon untouched beside him.) (Between his fingers rests a slightly worn photograph. The face in the picture and the singer beneath the spotlight are unmistakably the same. Wonderful. Nothing is ever easy. Without taking his eyes off the stage, Orion addresses the old brown bear behind the bar.) "...Bruno. How long has your singer been here?"
